It is also intended to give older hams a chance to share their station and love for Amateur Radio with their children, grandchildren, local boy- or girl-scout troop, or other youth group.<\/p>\n<p>We will be connecting our IRLP node on the <strong>145.340<\/strong>\u00a0repeater to the IRLP Friends Ham Radio Network that day so that kids in the Denver metro area (and beyond, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/rmrl.org\/dl\/14534coveragemap.pdf\">coverage map<\/a>) can talk to kids in other parts of the United States, and potentially the world. \u00a0The event starts at noon, local time, and runs until 6:00pm. \u00a0 If there is no traffic, the connection times out, so be active and get on the air!<\/p>\n<p>The ARRL provides a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrl.org\/files\/file\/Kids%20Day\/2015%20Kid's%20Day%20Certificate%20without%20crops%20indd.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">downloadable, printable certificate<\/a> that you can\u00a0print and fill out for your kid participant. \u00a0They would also appreciate it if you would drop them a note via the form provided to let them know about your experiences. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrl.org\/kids-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ARRL Kids Day web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twice a year the ARRL offers an event designed to promote Amateur Radio to our youth.
